Swaddling, Sucking, Sleeping
When Malachi first came home we would swaddle him because it was cold and he was so tiny. We would then put him in the newborn napper part of the Pack N Play shown below. He slept really well in here after moving him out of the bassinet in our room.
Then sometime time later, not sure when we got her, we started swaddling him again. This time to help him sleep better as he seemed to wake himself up with his startle reflex and obsession with trying to suck on his thumbs.

Coffee with Dad
Yesterday morning I decided to get the 'high chair' out to see if Malachi could sit in it well. We sat him at the table with us and Chris 'shared' his coffee with him.

Our Handsome Boy
While my mom was here last week we took Malachi to get his pictures taken. They came out OK but I was convinced I could do better. So that afternoon we set up a little photo shoot outside and took some of our own. I ended up askingCatherine Hartel (THANK YOU!) to edit one and getting a free 8X10 of it from Wallgreens, SCORE! Here are a few of my favorites.

Smiles
We have been getting lots of smiles from this little man and some Coos too. It seems like in the past 2 weeks he has really grown and changed a lot. Chris and I are enjoying more interaction with him. My mom is coming to visit today and will be here a week. We are all excited for her to meet Malachi.

3 Months Old
Today Malachi Owen is 3 months old. Time is flying and this boy is really growing. Malachi currently weighs 12lbs 8ozs. He started sleeping 'through the night' on February 23rd. His last feeding is usually around 6-6:30pm and then in bed by 7. He gets up between 3 and 5 am for a feeding and is then up between 7-7:30am. So he can give us about a 10hr stretch of sleep on a good night. I am hoping soon he will drop that other feeding and sleep 7 to 7 but I am really enjoying how well he is doing now. Malachi eats 6 times a day on average. His day time schedule hasn't regulated completely. He usually goes down for his morning nap around 8:30 and sleeps about 2 hrs, more or less. On a good day he will take another 2 hr nap around 12:30-2:30 but is then up or the most part until bed. He doesn't often take a third nap but really needs one because it makes for a long afternoon before bed. Hopefully the second nap and maybe third nap will be more regular soon.
Malachi is a really good baby. I know I don't have another to compare him to but he really is pretty content most of the time unless he is hungry or tired. In the beginning of February when Chris' mom and sister came to visit he started giving us some smiles and now is pretty consistent to give them when we talk to him. Also in the past week or two he has begun making some cooing noises which is sooooo cute. He holds his head up very well and can push up when on his tummy. Sometimes he even rocks a bit which is a little scary, not ready for him to be mobile yet. For the most part he doesn't seem to be too behind for his actual age.
Today we took a special trip up to the hospital to visit our friends the Haglers. They had their baby girl yesterday morning. Annalise Rose Hagler was born at 6lbs 3oz and 19.5in and was 3.5 weeks early. She is healthy and well. While we were at the hospital Chris and I decided to pop in to the NICU where Malachi was for 12 days and say hi to the nurses. It was weird being there and brought back many memories that now seem so distant. We were able to talk to a couple of nurses who helped care for Malachi. They all said he looked well and big. They really liked his big blue eyes.
When we got home we did a mini family photo shoot in the front yard.
