Moved

Since my last post, we have been up to Village Q for the weekend and then the next weekend moved into a 'new' house. Lots of things going on for us!

The trip to village Q was fun. It was a lot of travel for a short time but I am thankful to have had the opportunity to finally spend some time in the village getting to see it and meeting the people. It was the first time I, Michele, was able to spend the night and was there longer than a couple of hours. It made me very excited for our future there. The people all seemed pretty interested in us. Most seemed shy and just would stare at us and not talk a whole lot back when I tried to engage them. A couple of ladies talked with us for a while. It is nice that many speak Spanish as well as Zapoteco so we are able to communicate!

For the following couple days after the trip we were all sick with a stomach bug. Praise God we are all recovered!

Right after that we started moving up to the new house which is only about 8 blocks from where we were living. We spent our first night here on Easter Sunday. Apart from a few boxes, we are all unpacked. What relief! It's nice to have space to put things and really make this place our home after living in the other family's house for a couple of months. It was a blessing but we are really thankful for this house! We were able to purchase some items from that family as they are moving to another city- so far we bought their fridge, dining room set and a full bed & frame. We might be able to purchase more but are still waiting. We bought a new washer and queen bed. Hoping to get a bed frame soon and maybe a couch and changing table. The neighborhood we are in now is a little nosier and busier but I think overall this will be a good thing. There is a store right across from our house and the lady seems really friendly so I am hoping it provides more opportunity to speak Spanish! We plan to be in this house as long as we live in Oaxaca City. So exciting that we are officially on our first term here in Mexico. It's been just about 2 months since we have arrived!

We were going to make a quick trip back to TX to renew visas (though we have until the end of July for that) and pick up all our baby stuff (as now we are having the baby here in Mexico instead of TX) but we decided to stay put as my health has been a little touchy. Chris plans to meet our good friend Greg Giordano half way in two weeks to pick up the rest of our stuff. We will be here in Oaxaca until the end of July when our visas expire and then will make a quick trip up to TX for a few days to renew them and return back here to Oaxaca City.

Family Trip

This weekend we are planning to take a family trip to Village Q. It's about a 7 hour drive from where we live right now in Oaxaca City. We will leave Friday afternoon and drive about half way and spend the night in a hotel. The Hagler family is planning to come with us. Saturday morning we will head up to the village and spend the night and then head all the way home on Sunday. Please pray for our time in the village that it would be fruitful. We hope to be able to have a good time of talking with people there and even possibly receive a written invitation to go live and work there. This will be the longest that I (Michele) have spent in the village so I am looking forward to being there more than just an hour and getting a little more familiar with where we hope to one day live.

Trip to Village Q

Chris and a team of students from To Every Tribe's training school, The Center for Pioneer Church Planting, will be heading up to Village "Q" (where we one day hope to live and minister) tomorrow morning. The team arrived here in Oaxaca City yesterday afternoon and are busy site seeing and visiting the SIL base today. They leave tomorrow morning to head up to the village, it's about a 7-8 hour drive from Oaxaca City where we are currently living. They will then be holding a 3 day Medical and Dental Clinic Saturday, Sunday and Monday and driving back here to the city on Tuesday. Please be in prayer for Chris and the team as they go minister there. We are hoping to get an invitation to go live there soon! Here is a prayer calendar that our good friends, the Giordanos made up.

Road Trip

We left Pitman, NJ on Saturday January 12th. We drove 8hrs to Heath, OH to visit with one of our supporting churches there. We were able to stay with the Pastor Tony Romano and his family Saturday through Tuesday morning. We really enjoyed time talking with them and getting to know each other better. Chico even had another chihuahua to play with, Rocco.

From there we headed about an hour to Columbus on Tuesday to visit the Ronyak family. The Scott and Kate are good friends of ours and went through CPCP at To Every Tribe with me, Michele in 2009. It was nice to get to see where they are living and ministering to the Somalis of Columbus. We even got to spend part of the day with one Somali woman they met on Wednesday. We were so blessed by our time with the Ronyaks! They even babysat for us so Chris and I could go out to lunch for a bit.

Thursday and Friday were driving days to LaCrescent, MN. We arrived late afternoon Friday to spend the weekend with the Danielson Family. Their daughters enjoyed playing with Malachi and their son had fun with Chico. We had a comfortable stay inside though it was in the negative degrees outside. We are so thankful for another great supporting church and prayer partners there. Sunday afternoon we spent visiting with Kelly and Sarah Bryant. Kelly is another former CPCP students. Then Sunday night we headed over to another supporting church in Houston, MN. Our brothers and sisters there blessed us with a sweet time

Monday and Tuesday were two long days spent in the car traveling south to TEXAS! We arrived to visit our friends, the Hagler Family, late Tuesday afternoon in Tyler, TX. The Haglers will also be moving down to Oaxaca City the week after us in February. We are having a great time catching up with them after not seeing them for several months since we left language school in Mexico.

Tomorrow, Thursday morning, we will head just north of Dallas which is only about 2 hours from where we are now.

Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray as we finish up the last week or two of our traveling!

1st Journey of 2013

Saturday we travel to York, PA for our first journey of 2013. We visited with some supporters and friends in the afternoon and spoke at a supporting church Sunday morning. We are blessed to have so many brothers and sisters in different states that encourage and pray for us. Looking forward to seeing you all this month.

We had planned to head back to Pitman, NJ Sunday afternoon but after receiving news that Chris' grandmother wasn't well in the hospital we decided to go to Altoona, PA to visit with her. She has improved a bit since yesterday but still fairly ill.

We are back in Pitman now and will leave Saturday morning to spend a few days in Columbus, OH. We will be speaking at a supporting church there on Sunday and hopefully visiting with some good friends from To Every Tribe.
